A few days ago, at the very beginning of this year, a visit we’d been planning for months finally came to fruition. We visited the “WENA” Automotive Museum in Oława😁. The museum boasts excellent reviews in many circles, hence the desire to visit; it’s supposedly a gem of a museum in our country. I’ve visited many similar places in many countries, and I set the bar quite high. But I have to tell you one thing: the surprise was… a very positive one👍.
But right from the start, we pull up, there’s parking—not only is it large but it’s also free. We walk up to the entrance—a beautiful building with a beautiful logo at the entrance, it looks very promising. We walk inside and… WOW!!!😲 A fantastic interior, maintained in the atmosphere of the glory days of Polish automotive industry during the communist era. There’s a ticket office, a shop, a restaurant, and above all, an exhibition hall. It houses a wide range of cars, from the Ford Model T to the present day, a corner dedicated to the countryside from the past, primarily in an automotive context, but not exclusively. There’s also a second floor with motorcycles – interesting prototypes, new, unstarted engines, and extreme custom bikes. There’s “Maluch” who lived upstairs in the apartment building. And, most prominently, a wall of Fiat 126p models in various versions, some of which I’d never even heard of.
The whole thing is complemented by a wealth of gadgets from that era, including stereos, toys, bicycles, magazines – even ones just for adults ☺️, as well as many, many other everyday items from a time we’re slowly starting to forget. It’s a great reminder of what it was like back then, if anyone even remembers those times.
In short, this is a must-visit for every automotive enthusiast, not just Polish ones. Finally, we have a place in the country that can proudly compete with the cream of European museums. I highly recommend it!
