We visit a cult place on the map of Polish motorcycling – the Museum of Technology and Communication in Szczecin

And finally, I made it. When I visited Szczecin a few days ago, I couldn’t resist the temptation to visit the Museum of Technology and Communication. After all, it was in Szczecin that our legendary Junaks were assembled. The museum itself is located in a former tram workshop appropriately modified to serve as exhibition halls. The workshop channels were covered with thick glass, and the electric traction network was removed. This procedure resulted in the creation of a considerable space, even for larger exhibits. They are a bit chaotically arranged, but once we understand the ideology behind their placement, we will find a variety of vehicles there, from Polish motorcycles, including several versions of Junaks, through various versions of passenger cars, to buses and trams. There are several interesting versions of the Fiat 126p of our “Maluch”, there are Fiat 125p and Polonez, Syrenkas and Warszawas. Not all exhibits are in perfect condition. Some have parts in original, not museum condition. But there are also professionally restored specimens, including: Stoewer cars, some of them quite rare, preserved in individual quantities in the world.

Of course, I was most interested in the motorcycle exhibition and I was not disappointed, there are several very interesting models of the Polish Sokół, Junak or smaller mopeds, including Żak and Rys. The motorcycles are a kind of complement to the entire exhibition, they are interestingly suspended on steel cables between larger vehicles. You need about 1 hour to familiarize yourself with the entire exhibition. After all, it is not a Mercedes museum, but it is really worth seeing the vehicles that motorized our society half a century ago.
